Egypt Digital Twin 2026 conference

The second “Egypt Digital Twin 2026” was held in Cairo on 22 April 2026 and served as a strategic regional platform focused on accelerating the adoption of digital twin technologies in smart cities, infrastructure, and utilities across Egypt and the wider MENA region. The event brought together government leaders, urban planners, infrastructure authorities, and investors to explore how real-time spatial data, simulation, and artificial intelligence can enhance planning, operations, and sustainability.

Our colleague, Amr Hanafi Ali, participated in the conference as a keynote speaker and panellist. Following the event, he shared the following reflections:

“I am very pleased to have participated in the conference “Egypt Digital Twin 2026 – Building Tomorrow”, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Housing. This event was not merely a technical conference, but a real step toward empowering technology at the core of our national projects, in line with Egypt Vision 2030.

I had the privilege of contributing to this momentum in my role as a Professor of Geomatics at Benha University. During my interventions, I emphasized: “The true value of this gathering lies in its ability to embody the link between scientific research and the needs of the labor market.” I also expressed my appreciation and admiration for the pivotal role that Egyptian universities play in adopting and effectively integrating these advanced technologies into engineering curricula.

In this context, special recognition should be given to the MLUMSE project, which offers an outstanding model of partnership between the EU and Southern Mediterranean countries, and plays an important role in modernizing engineering education and bridging the knowledge gap—ensuring the preparation of national professionals capable of driving the digital transformation.

My sincere thanks and appreciation go to SAIF, the company Geomatex, and the team led by Eng. Izat Sabry for the excellent organization, which successfully brought together expertise from both the academic and private sectors to help build a better future for the engineering profession in Egypt.”
