MLUMSE project presented at SDI Days 2026 in Šibenik
The SDI Days 2026 conference was held on 27–28 May 2026 in Šibenik, Croatia, organised by the State Geodetic Administration. The 15th NSDI and INSPIRE Day brought together more than 120 representatives of the public, private and academic sectors to exchange knowledge and experience related to spatial data infrastructures, interoperability and the further development of INSPIRE.
As part of the conference programme, Vesna Poslončec-Petrić and Željko Bačić from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Geodesy presented the contribution entitled “Contribution of Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education Projects to the Implementation of Spatial Data Infrastructures in Partner Countries”. The presentation was included in the first session of the 15th NSDI and INSPIRE Day, dedicated to current developments and experiences in the implementation of spatial data infrastructures.
The presentation provided an overview of the extensive experience of the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Geodesy in Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) projects, highlighting ten projects implemented or currently under implementation since 2016, including MLUMSE, DTT4SD, DEXIT, IGnite and PASEC. Altogether, these projects cover 16 partner countries across five Erasmus regions and contribute to the modernisation of higher education through the introduction and strengthening of spatial data infrastructure (SDI) related topics in study programmes. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of CBHE projects in building professional and institutional capacities, strengthening cooperation between academia and SDI stakeholders, and raising awareness among future professionals about the importance and benefits of spatial data infrastructures. The presentation demonstrated that Erasmus+ projects can therefore act as an important catalyst for strengthening the role of the academic community and supporting the development and implementation of SDIs in partner countries.
