This session will focus on how hashtag#artificial hashtag#intelligence is transforming hashtag#weather hashtag#monitoring and hashtag#natural hashtag#hazard analysis, with an emphasis on state-of-the-art models currently used in research and operational systems.

We will explore Graphcast and GenCast, two models developed by Google DeepMind that represent a major shift by outperforming traditional forecasting systems. The session will cover how they work, the transition from deterministic to probabilistic forecasting, and what this means for predicting extreme events such as cyclones and floods.

ย 

The webinar will also highlight the use of hashtag#deep hashtag#learning in disaster response, particularly through hashtag#radar hashtag#satellite data for rapid flood mapping. It will include an overview of advances in open-source geospatial AI, featuring accessible models such as Prithvi (IBM & NASA).
